Windows 7

I've finally got around to upgrading my main dev pc to Windows 7 (from XP), so in the next few weeks I'll be working on various vista/win7 issues (especially the drag-drop one). I'm pretty sure if you disable UAC then drag-drop will work fine, but I'd like to be able to work around it. Stay tuned for updates :)

Hi, Jeff. You're right. I've tried this last version on W7 Ultimate and been unable to drag n' drop files to my Ipod. After reading your comment about UAC, I've set it off and it worked fine. Anyway, hope you could find a way on next versions to allow UAC and Sharepod to work together. Great work !!

Happy to hear you're working on the drag n drop issue! Keep up the great work!

Thanks

What happens if you run sharepod as admin? Can you use drag and drop then? I'll test this tomorrow...

Hey Jeff, just want to say after having tried four or five of the other free apps out there to circumvent the evil bitch of an app that is iTunes, I was so relieved to find yours. It is by far the best designed--I'm an IT consultant by day so I really appreciate interfaces and functionalities that do their job well. One question though, and maybe this is just a Windows 7 issue (Ultimate 32-bit if it matters):

I keep getting some errors along these lines:

Failed to import [filename]
Value of '1710' is not valid for 'indexStart'. 'indexStart' must be less than or equal to 979.Parameter name: indexStart

"1710" in this example being just one of a thousand or so sequential numbers it's given me in the course of trying to import a ton of folders. I couldn't find any reg keys identified as indexStart--is there somewhere I can make an edit to increase the parameter...?

Thanks for your help and your awesome design. I'll be donating as soon as I get a couple bills out of the way. =)

hi, thanks, send me your sharepod.log file

Help! Can anyone please explain how to get out of random mode? Did this get removed in the new version? I know 3.8 had radio buttons to toggle to sequential mode, because I found this screen shot:

Thanks!

Please make it possible to edit master playlist. That would solve ALL of my problems!

Hello; I love SharePod and think its a great program! I recently ran into an issue where my old laptop died and I lost that back-up of my music (I used SharePod to make it!). Now recently after getting a new laptop, I ran into an error where my iPod Touch cleared all of the songs on it. Thus my music collection is gone.

A particular thing about the iTouch is that it does not have a disk mode enabled. Because of this, every single restoration program I've tried (even ones specifically for iPods) does not detect the iTouch making it impossible for me to back it up.

Your program however, is able to detect the iTouch (which pretty much gives it so much more credibility in my eyes than all of these other ones)! Sadly there is no option to search for lost files & recover them. :(

If you have any suggestions for help that would be wonderful!

Hi. I am having some trouble with sharepod 3.9.5 I rin WinXP. I am trying to do the following:
1) copy songs from my iPOD to my Iphone.
I managed to copy all 20GB os songs from my ipod to my PC using Sharepod.

i get stuck trying to copy the songs from my PC harddrive to the iphone using sharepod. the iphone is recognized, but I have to dig into each artist folder and select mp3's individually. I have about 3,500 songs, so I cannot do each song individually. how do I copy en mass?

Is a Itunes 9.2 compatibility version being developed? seems ideal to have iphone v4 AND Sharepod.

sharepod is in my opinion the perfect solution.
transferring ringtones would be another great thing ;)

Only one thing is there any chance to make it work with the new iphone 4g, cause i can put my music to it with sharepod, but the the iphone wont find it...
This would be perfect!

you really need to update SharePod. It doesn't work with iOS 4 at all, and the iPhone 4. It says it has added music but nothing appears and then an error comes up so it's not compatible with iOS 4. And you need to update it to be compatible with iTunes 9.2, great software i always use it, but that stuff needs fixing.

Also i get you want donations for your hard work, but paying to be apart of a community and forum is a joke. So many other forums out there which ask for donations and keep their doors open, actually ALL are like that, i'd donate to you if you didn't have that (and $10 a year), don't mind paying it but i'd rather pay one sum and let it be.

thanks

I recently upgraded my touch 64 to iOs 4 and now I get an error when I copy songs to the ipod, something about an object not being where an object is expected. I imagine I'll just have to wait until the next version of sharepod comes out in order to add new songs. Any other solutions?

Where is the software owner when you need him. It would be wise of him to make an appearance and atleast fucking promise us something. Maybe his windows 7 computer hated him and fucking ate his ass. R.I.P. Sharepod....

I hope all of you being so rude/violent are paying customers! The guy does this in his free time for crying out loud!

Yes I desperately need iPhone 4/iTunes 9.2 support too but I'm not going to yell at him for it!

Aw, this was a really quality post. In theory I'd like to write like this too – taking time and real effort to make a good article… but what can I say… I procrastinate alot and never seem to get something done.

If Sharepod crashes without an error message in Windows 7 64 bit, it's because you do not have Java(JRE) installed. Install JRE and it'll all be good. http://www.java.com/en/download/inc/windows_new_xpi.jsp

I've been trying to use SharePod, but each time I attempt to open the program it gives me the same error message: "SharePod has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." This seems to happen consistently as soon as I open the program, while it's searching for my iPod and regardless of whether or not said iPod is connected. I'm on Windows 7, on an HP laptop I bought just a couple of months ago -- what's going wrong?

kurukami said...

@Tamim: Unfortunately, I tried that and it still doesn't work. SharePod continues to crash immediately after opening. Anyone have any other ideas as to why the program consistently fails to open? (If it helps, I'm on Windows 7 Home Premium.)

Everything seems to work fine but the songs aren't on my iphone4. It finds the phone and it copies the tracks from the PC to my phone. I don't get any error messages. It shows them in SharePOD as being on my phone but I can't find them.
