Support for adding/changing/removing tracks on iPhone 3GS onwards is not supported. Apple has made it increasingly hard to get around their encryption. Other larger for-profit apps can afford to spend the time to reverse engineer the encryption, but I can't :(

Using current, updated Windows XP, Sharepod opens, begins the search for the ipod, encounters an error and closes. I tried downloading the .net update but Microsoft says the one I have conflicts with this, so I'm at a loss.
This program is a fraud. I told it to backup my ipod touch. I then went to update my ipod. When I went to restore the files to the ipod the program did not work. The next time I opened it . . . 8 gb of music was GONE!
Is anyone else having trouble getting Sharepod to recognise tracks downloaded to an iPhone via iTunes Match? I can see my old tracks, but whenever I buy new tracks I can't see them to transfer them off.

Hi! I've used SharePod before my computer was wiped clean and then reinstalled it this morning. I've been trying (just about) all night to transfer files from my iPod to my computer and it gets about halfway and then takes quite awhile on a song and does not budge. I've tried deleting music (I didn't really need it anyway...) and restarting the computer and program a few times. Is it because the file is a certain size, it takes more than 5-10 minutes for a given song when up to that song, everything was going super fast. Help!

Since I have mostly classical music, this is a big issue.
The second thing is file names - lots of files, especially of operas which have lots of performers in the artist field were not copied. Is there a work around for these?

Hi there, a great tool ;-) For me there is only one thing that I am missing, in ITunes I can set the volume of the songs. I use that to hear my audiobooks by setting the volume of my IPod to half and if was louder around me, I set it to 3/4 and have some in reserve. Is it a great challenge to add that feature to sharepod?

When dragging an album to the mediaplayer it plays the songs in a random order. How can I configure it playing the album from the first to the last song? It worked with sharepod 3.8.7 ...
I just got my computer back from the repair center, where a new hard drive was installed. So I installed Sharepod, then used 'Backup iPod' to migrate my music from my iTouch back into my newly reinstalled iTunes. But, for some reason, only 409 out of 1069 songs installed. Also, none of the cover art made it over, Any ideas??

For some reason the Sharepod copied all the folders from my ipad to the pc, but none of the music files. I set the options multiple ways, and I still only get the folders. Its an ipad 2 transferring to a Windows PC running XP pro....Any one have this problem? I can't locate a log file to check what might have happened.

Using 3.9.9, none of them are writable - in fact the 'Copy to iPod' icon never appears for *any* of them.
Using 3.9.7, the 'Copy to iPod' icon appears for all of them. Strangely, the 3GS, 4, 4S and iPad *ARE* writable, the 3G and iPod-T 2G are not, and come up with 'Your iPod (IPhone_ITouch4, database version 74) is not writable'.
Can Jeff, anyone shed any light on this? I could understand IOS5 not being writable, but why is 4.2.1 writable on the 3GS, but not on the 3G an iPod?
I was thrilled to see this app available, and it seems to be working just fine with my iPod classic. Then I got a Windows XP error window saying that SharePod had encountered an error and had to shut down. Even worse now I can't access any of the songs on my iPod. It shows 50 GB used but it can't recognize any of it. Now SharePod crashes with the same error every time I try to use it. I've tried resetting my iPod, but it did no good. Any ideas what I can do now?

Hi - I just found SharePod. Looks good, but I can't get files I copy from my PC to my iPod nano to 'stick', i.e. they show up alright in SharePod, but not on the iPod or in iTunes, and next time I open SharePod again they have disappeared from the file list. Am I missing something?

Hi, Jeff. Thanks for your great work. I just found Sharepod and I'm using it with my iPod Classic. I ran into a little problem. I copied 16 video files from my PC to the iPod. The available space on the iPod decreased accordingly, but when I look at the SONGS under MUSIC to see the videos, only two of the sixteen appear. However, all sixteen do appear on the list of files showing on the Sharepod screen. Do I need to look somewhere else on the iPod for the missing fourteen videos?
Hi again, Jeff. Further to my previous post, I found the missing fourteen files. They were under VIDEO --> VIDEO PLAYLISTS --> RECENTLY ADDED. The other two of the sixteen I copied are under MUSIC --> SONGS. Seems odd they'd be in two different locations. Can I use Sharepod to "move" the two from SONGS to VIDEO?

Sharepod's great, wonderful for my Ipod. 3.9.9 with my iPhone 4S, Sharepod clearly shows songs added to the iPhone, but on the iPhone itself, they do not appear. This seems very odd

My iphone 4s with ios6 was recognized right off the first time but that was also the only time. I am stuck on Loading and the sharepod logo. It never finds my iphone anymore.

Just recently found out about sharepod and downloaded it the other day so I could transfer music from a friends iphone to my own computer. However, when I tried copying the songs to my computer, it copied about 10 songs then stopped, I noticed that at the bottom where it shows the free space on the iphone, it had changed from about 2gb to 0gb after copying the songs. I can't understand why it seems to be going by the free space on the iphone when i'm copying to the computer and not the iphone. Any help would be much appreciated! :)
just renamed some playlists (to adjust sort order) by prepending an underscore to the playlist names ... looks good on the iPod, but SharePod now crashes upon launch
share pod doesn't seem to be working on windows 8, says that .net 3.5 is required, but .net is already an integral part of the new windows os, so any chance to fix this?

Hi, sharepod was working just fine then all of sudden it stops responding and stays stuck on loading. I unplugged it and even rebooted and still stays stuck on loading. My iphone is 3gs with iOS 6. Weird I was able to save all my songs on pc and even transfer to itunes but now I fixed up some songs and itunes has duplicates so I just wanted to do it from scratch and it started this. :-( any idea why?
Hi, I've used Sharepod on Windows 7 and my iPhone 4S iOS 5 and it worked great. I now have Windows 8 and iOS 6, and it opens, loads, and recognizes my phone; however, it says that I have zero songs. The "free space" is correct and yet it still says that I have zero songs on the phone. Any known solutions to this? I have tried deleting sharepod, reinstalling, and restarting my computer. Any help is greatly appreciated!
I just installed Sharepod 3.9.9. There is a button for "copy to compuetr" but no button for "copy to iPod." Help says there should be a "copy to iPod" button.
My priority use is to copy from computer to ipod since iTunes is not adquate.

Hi, I'm new to all of this. I moved and only have my laptop at the moment. So downloaded new itunes. I was able to transfer the music from my iphone5 to my computer, and it automatically transferred it to itunes as well, but it doesn't recognize my phone now. :( It says does not recognize (or something similar) and says I have to restore my phone. I just tried to use sharepod and the functionality seems to have been locked by an apple update or something. After copying the files, the space shows up as being used but the songs are not on the ipod. Any idea whether an update is coming?
I got a fully equipped iPod touch 4g (model MC547LL iOS 6.0.1) as a present and without the iTunes database.
I successfully used sharepod 3.9.9 to backup the m4a tracks, I suspect the respective artwork data are lost (perhaps this is a feature?).
Anyway, upon deleting some artits from the iTouch I got some really confusing messages.
Thereafter, the artists were gone in the sharepod list but still showed up on the iTouch along with all tracks, but without the respctive files. This turned the iTouch into some hectic activity upon selecting one of these "deleted" tracks and it also has damaged the artist's database such that addition of new artists does not show up in the artist's database, although the tunes still can be addressed by the album names.
Hi! I just downloaded Sharepod after a very frustrating day of trying to move a song from my iPhone 4 to my PC. I just downloaded the newest OS, iOS6, onto my phone, thinking maybe that would help. But now, Sharepod recognizes my iPhone, but none of my music. It says "0 files" under "Purchased" and "Rebecca's iPhone." Please help! I had such high hopes for your program! :(
Hi I have used sharepod to copy th music off my Ipod Touch 4 8G iOS iOS v6.
When I then run up iTunes 11 or 10 i get the following message... "iTunes can not read the contents on the iPod. Go to the Summary tab in iPod preferences and click Restore to restore this iPod to factory settings."
Is there a way of fixing this without restoring to factory settings and restoring from a backup?

Unfortunately I just experienced the same problem. I think Itunes did a back up before I googled, downloaded and installed this program - but I don't want to rush into anything and lose something important.
I used it to backup my mp3s from an ipod and then used it to upload files onto an empty one.
The problem is, when I use sharepod to copy the files onto the new ipod, I get LESS files (5519) than the ones on the old ipod (5528) and than the ones i backed up (still 5528, proper).

I've just had to restore my IPOD to factory settings. I've learnt a lesson from downloading Sharepod. Do your research before downloading anything to your computer. I will be more careful in future and not download anything like your software. Thanks for the lesson.

why wont the program copy track id info from the ipod about 90 song that have full info on the ipod have full track id but come ust with song title when copied over to pc?

For some reason the Sharepod copied all the folders from my ipad to the pc, but none of the music files. I set the options multiple ways, and I still only get the folders. Its an ipad 2 transferring to a Windows PC running XP pro....Any one have this problem? I can't locate a log file to check what might have happened.

I have a family using iDevices, all using different versions...
I have:
3 x 3G on 4.2.1
1 x 3GS on 4.2.1
1 x 4 on 5.1.1
2 x 4S on 5.1.1
1 x iPod Touch 2G on 4.2.1
1 x iPad 2 on 5.1
Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit Sp1
Using 3.9.9, none of them are writable - in fact the 'Copy to iPod' icon never appears for *any* of them.
Using 3.9.7, the 'Copy to iPod' icon appears for all of them.
Strangely, the 3GS, 4, 4S and iPad *ARE* writable, the 3G and iPod-T 2G are not, and come up with 'Your iPod (IPhone_ITouch4, database version 74) is not writable'.
Can Jeff, anyone shed any light on this? I could understand IOS5 not being writable, but why is 4.2.1 writable on the 3GS, but not on the 3G an iPod?

OMG! You are the greatest! I promise you that when I'm not a broke college student I will donate a very large sum...give me about a year...or two.
I was thrilled to see this app available, and it seems to be working just fine with my iPod classic. Then I got a Windows XP error window saying that SharePod had encountered an error and had to shut down. Even worse now I can't access any of the songs on my iPod. It shows 50 GB used but it can't recognize any of it. Now SharePod crashes with the same error every time I try to use it. I've tried resetting my iPod, but it did no good. Any ideas what I can do now?

Your iPod (IPhone_ITouch4, database version 74) is not writable.

Hi - I just found SharePod. Looks good, but I can't get files I copy from my PC to my iPod nano to 'stick', i.e. they show up alright in SharePod, but not on the iPod or in iTunes, and next time I open SharePod again they have disappeared from the file list. Am I missing something?

I ran into a little problem. I copied 16 video files from my PC to the iPod. The available space on the iPod decreased accordingly, but when I look at the SONGS under MUSIC to see the videos, only two of the sixteen appear. However, all sixteen do appear on the list of files showing on the Sharepod screen. Do I need to look somewhere else on the iPod for the missing fourteen videos?
Hi again, Jeff. Further to my previous post, I found the missing fourteen files. They were under VIDEO --> VIDEO PLAYLISTS --> RECENTLY ADDED. The other two of the sixteen I copied are under MUSIC --> SONGS. Seems odd they'd be in two different locations. Can I use Sharepod to "move" the two from SONGS to VIDEO?
I love Sharepod its fantastic but I have downloaded the latest version 3.9.9 and my iphone is being recognized as a Iphone_Itouch4???

My iphone 4s with ios6 was recognized right off the first time but that was also the only time. I am stuck on Loading and the sharepod logo. It never finds my iphone anymore.
Everytime I use this I end up having to restore in iTunes. Not cool at all.

Just recently found out about sharepod and downloaded it the other day so I could transfer music from a friends iphone to my own computer. However, when I tried copying the songs to my computer, it copied about 10 songs then stopped, I noticed that at the bottom where it shows the free space on the iphone, it had changed from about 2gb to 0gb after copying the songs. I can't understand why it seems to be going by the free space on the iphone when i'm copying to the computer and not the iphone. Any help would be much appreciated! :)

share pod doesn't seem to be working on windows 8, says that .net 3.5 is required, but .net is already an integral part of the new windows os, so any chance to fix this?

Hi, sharepod was working just fine then all of sudden it stops responding and stays stuck on loading. I unplugged it and even rebooted and still stays stuck on loading. My iphone is 3gs with iOS 6. Weird I was able to save all my songs on pc and even transfer to itunes but now I fixed up some songs and itunes has duplicates so I just wanted to do it from scratch and it started this. :-( any idea why?

I've used Sharepod on Windows 7 and my iPhone 4S iOS 5 and it worked great. I now have Windows 8 and iOS 6, and it opens, loads, and recognizes my phone; however, it says that I have zero songs. The "free space" is correct and yet it still says that I have zero songs on the phone. Any known solutions to this? I have tried deleting sharepod, reinstalling, and restarting my computer. Any help is greatly appreciated!
It seems not to work with ipod nano 7gen. It does not recognize it.
Although I can extract content, I cannot delete ipod content.

I just installed Sharepod 3.9.9. There is a button for "copy to compuetr" but no button for "copy to iPod." Help says there should be a "copy to iPod" button.
My priority use is to copy from computer to ipod since iTunes is not adquate.

Good programme but doesn't appear in the list of programmes on my computer and I can't find where it is located.. Every time I want to run it I have to reinstall from the download file. Where does the programme install to? Running Windows 7.
Hi, I'm new to all of this. I moved and only have my laptop at the moment. So downloaded new itunes. I was able to transfer the music from my iphone5 to my computer, and it automatically transferred it to itunes as well, but it doesn't recognize my phone now. :( It says does not recognize (or something similar) and says I have to restore my phone. Can you help me with this issue? Maybe I did something incorrectly?

I just tried to use sharepod and the functionality seems to have been locked by an apple update or something. After copying the files, the space shows up as being used but the songs are not on the ipod. Any idea whether an update is coming?
I got a fully equipped iPod touch 4g (model MC547LL iOS 6.0.1) as a present and without the iTunes database.
I successfully used sharepod 3.9.9 to backup the m4a tracks, I suspect the respective artwork data are lost (perhaps this is a feature?).
Anyway, upon deleting some artits from the iTouch I got some really confusing messages.
Thereafter, the artists were gone in the sharepod list but still showed up on the iTouch along with all tracks, but without the respctive files. This turned the iTouch into some hectic activity upon selecting one of these "deleted" tracks and it also has damaged the artist's database such that addition of new artists does not show up in the artist's database, although the tunes still can be addressed by the album names.

Hi! I just downloaded Sharepod after a very frustrating day of trying to move a song from my iPhone 4 to my PC. I just downloaded the newest OS, iOS6, onto my phone, thinking maybe that would help. But now, Sharepod recognizes my iPhone, but none of my music. It says "0 files" under "Purchased" and "Rebecca's iPhone." Please help! I had such high hopes for your program! :(

I have used sharepod to copy th music off my Ipod Touch 4 8G iOS iOS v6.
When I then run up iTunes 11 or 10 i get the following message... "iTunes can not read the contents on the iPod. Go to the Summary tab in iPod preferences and click Restore to restore this iPod to factory settings."
Is there a way of fixing this without restoring to factory settings and restoring from a backup?
I the iPod was fine with iTunes before using SharePod.

Unfortunately I just experienced the same problem. I think Itunes did a back up before I googled, downloaded and installed this program - but I don't want to rush into anything and lose something important.

I used it to backup my mp3s from an ipod and then used it to upload files onto an empty one.
The problem is, when I use sharepod to copy the files onto the new ipod, I get LESS files (5519) than the ones on the old ipod (5528) and than the ones i backed up (still 5528, proper).

I've just had to restore my IPOD to factory settings. I've learnt a lesson from downloading Sharepod. Do your research before downloading anything to your computer. I will be more careful in future and not download anything like your software. Thanks for the lesson.

To solve the System.DllNotFoundException issue, run Sharepod as administrator (right-click, Run as administrator)
